The Professional Aquatics Safety Seminar is a fast-paced, educational program specifically designed for Aquatic and Recreation Professionals; Lifeguard Instructors and Supervisors; Aquatic Facility Managers and Operators; and Lifeguard, Public Safety and Rescue Professionals. This program is designed for individuals with management, administrative or safety responsibility for the operation of any type of aquatic facility (i.e. Municipal, community, fitness, recreation, hotel/motel, resort swimming pool, waterpark, beach, etc.)
The focus of this one-day educational program is on the Prevention, Recognition and Management of drowning and aquatic injuries:
The Professional Aquatics Safety Seminar is conducted entirely in a classroom setting and is presented using computer-generated slides and dramatic videotape footage and includes the following curriculum topics:
- Physiology of Drowning
- Risk Management, Threat Analysis and Incident Prevention
- Legal Liability Factors
- Aquatic Facility and Lifeguard Operations
- Drowning and Aquatic Injury Case Studies
- Innovations in Safety and Rescue Equipment
- Prevention of Aquatic Spinal Injuries
- Management of Aquatic Spinal Injuries
- Protection from Bloodborne Pathogens
- Basic Life Support, AED and Emergency Resuscitation Protocols
Seminar Instructor
The curriculum has been developed by and is presented by Gerald Dworkin, a professional Aquatics Safety and Water Rescue Consultant for Lifesaving Resources. Dworkin has authored numerous articles which have appeared in such publications as Advanced Rescue Technology; Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS); Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Magazine; Parks and Recreation Magazine; and Aquatics International. Besides the Water Rescue Course Guidebook, Dworkin has also published the Ice Rescue Course Guidebook, The Lifeguard Competition Guidebook, and CPR for Infants and Children (published by the Child Welfare League of America).
Dworkin has an extensive background in Aquatics, Water Rescue, EMS, and Firefighting, and regularly consults as an Expert in drowning and aquatic injury litigation. Dworkin is considered an expert and qualified educator in the field of Aquatics Safety, Water Rescue, and Ice Rescue throughout the country.

Course Schedule
The 8-hour Professional Aquatics Safety Seminar is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sign-in begins at 8:30 AM. There will be a 1-hour lunch break (on your own). Certificates are awarded to those who participate in the entire 8-hour seminar.
Seminar Fees
The fee for the one-day Professional Aquatics Safety Seminar may vary depending upon the seminar location and facilities being used. The seminar fee includes the comprehensive PASS Guidebook(s), handouts, and a Certificate of Participation suitable for framing. Continuing Education Credit
CEUs are typically available through state and/or national professional associations for participation in this course, should you wish to arrange.
Registration
Participants may register OnLine, by mail, or by fax for Lifesaving Resources' sponsored Courses. Early registration is recommended and should be received at least 10 days prior to the Course date in order to insure availability. Courses may also be sponsored by independent organizations at which time registration may be processed directly through those organizations.
