The tragedy of Ladder Company 24

At a devastated New
York firehouse, a vow

The three firefighters from
Ladder 24, killed during the
collapse of the World Trade
Center, are remembered in a

in Manhattan.

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 ÷ Their bodies are weary. Their hearts are
heavy. Yet at Ladder Company 24 in the shadow of Madison
Square Garden, there is little time to comfort either. This single
fire house is just a small part of the New York Fire
Departmentās 11,000-strong family. Already, four of their
number have been lost in the rubble of the World Trade Center,
including their captain and the unitās chaplain. It is a tragic story
repeated over and over again in the close knit units of this city.
