The following articles are issues pertaining to Aquatics Safety and Water Rescue. These articles are written to help improve lifesaving and rescue operations. Please read an article that may be of interest to you. When finished, feel free to post your comments on our Discussion Board. Even though there is abundant scientific information regarding the subjects of Hypothermia and Cold Water Rescue and Survival, there are still many old wives' tales and misinformation that are being taught, passed on, and utilized in patient care. There appears to be some bad data in education that is causing rescuers to provide inappropriate patient care that can be deleterious to their patients. So, this article, developed by Gordon Giesbrecht, PdD; Murray Hamlet, DVM; and Frank Hubbell, DO, takes a look at the many myths and misinformation that seem to surround cold physiology and cold-related injuries.
