Boy drowns at lawyer's home

A 6-year-old boy drowned in an accident at a pool at the South Hill home
of a prominent Charleston attorney Friday night, police said.

The boy, identified as Marcus Wright by WCHS-TV, was found unresponsive
in the pool sometime before 8:30 p.m. at 1340 Johnson Road, said
Charleston police Lt. Steve Neddo.
There were several children at a pool party at the home with adult
supervision, he said.

No other kids were in the pool when the victim was found, Neddo said. He
had been in the pool alone for some time.

Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive the child, Neddo said. The
child was listed as under evaluation at Charleston Area Medical Center's
General Hospital, but Neddo said he was pronounced dead just before
midnight. The child did not live at the house where he drowned, Neddo
said.

"We're investigating, but we have no reason to believe there was any
type of foul play," Neddo said. "That's our determination, accidental
drowning."

The home belongs to attorney Dante DiTrapano, according to local phone
books. DiTrapano could not be reached for comment late Friday.
