Passengers, Crew Being Evacuated With Vessel Stuck On Rock



SITKA, Alaska -- A ferry with more than 100 passengers and crew aboard is "hard aground" and taking on water after hitting a rock about 30 miles north of Sitka.

Authorities say the LeConte is stuck on a rock in Peril Strait.

There's no word of injuries. The passengers and crew are being evacuated.

The state-operated ferry shuttles passengers between southeastern Alaska communities. There were 86 passengers and 23 crew members aboard.
